Job Summary

The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure the quality, integrity, security, and compliance of enterprise data assets. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive data stewardship, improve data quality, and promote a culture of data accountability across the organization. The specialist will play a key role in supporting business objectives by enabling trusted and well-governed data for analytics, reporting, and regulatory compliance.

 

Job Responsibilities*

  1. Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards. Lead the creation and periodic review of data governance documentation, ensuring alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
  1. Drive data quality improvement initiatives. Define and implement data quality metrics, monitoring processes, and remediation plans in collaboration with data owners and stewards.
  1. Establish and manage data stewardship programs. Facilitate the identification and training of data stewards, and support them in their roles to ensure data accountability and ownership.
  1. Collaborate with IT, business, and compliance teams to ensure data governance policies are embedded in data lifecycle management, including data classification, metadata management, and data lineage.
  1. Support regulatory compliance (e.g., PDPA, GDPR) by ensuring data handling practices meet legal and internal standards. Coordinate audits and provide documentation as required.
  1. Promote data governance awareness and best practices. Conduct training sessions, workshops, and communications to foster a culture of data responsibility.
  1. Monitor and report on data governance KPIs and the effectiveness of data governance initiatives to management and stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data management frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), and data quality management.
  • 5–8 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
  • Experience developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Hands-on experience with data quality tools, metadata management, and data catalog solutions.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., PDPA, GDPR) and compliance processes.

Data governance or data management certifications (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus.
